Hi, I'm Kayla.
Marketing professional by day. Content producer, creator, and community builder every hour after that. Orlando-based, always chasing visuals that make people feel something.
Here's how I got here.
How I got here.
Every hat I've worn, every pivot I've taken, and the moments that shaped what I do today.
The spark.
Already studying marketing at UCF when it happened. During an internship in a completely unrelated field, I got hooked on the world of social media marketing, SEO, and content. Marketing on paper turned into marketing in practice. That was it. I was in.
Every marketing hat, at once.
Every internship I could get my hands on: marketing, social media, email marketing. Freelanced on the side. Even ran a little online business with my sister (rest in peace, ended 2020). Grabbed my UCF Marketing degree in 2019 along the way. Go Knights.
The radio host era.
Here's a wild one: one job where I was Marketing Director for a Central Florida TV show AND a law firm AND the radio host, all at the same time. Yes, really. Learned more about performance, audience, and voice than I ever expected.
Energy efficiency era.
Joined The Will Group and stepped into the energy efficiency space. Workforce development, program marketing, telling stories that actually matter. I enjoy it.
Meet Leia.
Also in 2022: I brought home my furbaby. She's been running the house ever since.
The soft launch.
Started @theecontentqueen. Posted every once in a while. Was NOT consistent. Had all the ideas and was overthinking every single one of them.
Not consistent. Yet.
The leap.
After nearly a decade of building brands for other businesses, I decided to build mine. Kicked off the year with a 30-day content challenge. Post no matter what, no overthinking allowed.
Everything changed. UGC deals started rolling in. Brand partnerships with names I'd been watching for years. I was finally in.
Everything changed.
Create & Yap was born.
Created the workshop I wished existed when I started. Held the first Create & Yap in Orlando. Built the community I wanted to be part of. Everything I hoped for and more.
Married the love of my life.
The best plot twist of the year. Officially locked in with my person. Big wedding celebration coming in 2028, but we couldn't wait to make it official.
Still building.
Marketing manager by day. Content producer, creator, and community builder by every other hour. Still making the spaces I want to see exist.
Also plotting my filmmaking era. Coming soon. Wink wink.
What I'm doing now.
Three worlds running in parallel: a corporate marketing career, a content producing business, and a growing creator community. All connected, all part of the same thing.

The little things.

UCF Marketing grad. Go Knights!
Danced for most of my life and even competed when I was younger.
One cat, Leia. She's 4 and she runs the house.
Half Jamaican 🇯🇲
Favorite artists: Lucky Daye + Victoria Monét. No skips.
Lo-fi and jazz on repeat while I work.
I love to travel. Most recent favorite: Dubai. Wild in the best way.
I consider myself an old soul.
Cheesecake + vanilla ice cream. Non-negotiable.
I'm building the spaces I wish existed.
When I first started making content, I looked around locally and saw... nothing. No community, no workshops, no one saying "here, come figure this out with me."
So I'm creating them. For the small business owner posting into the void. For the creator building on the side of a 9 to 5. For the person with a creative dream they keep pushing off until "someday."
You can do the thing you want to do while doing the things you have to do. It won't always be easy but it's absolutely possible.
That's the whole point. Come build with me.
Let's connect.
If any of this resonated, I'd love to hear from you. Slide into my LinkedIn, send me a note, or come hang on the socials.
